NIH Launches New Resource To Help Researchers Explore Data from the Human Microbiome Project

NIH has launched the first phase of the Microbiome Cloud Project, an initiative led by NIAID and the National Human Genome Research Institute that aims to improve access to and analysis of data from the Human Microbiome Project. Genetic information on the microbes that naturally colonize our bodies is now available online as a free public dataset on the Amazon Web Services cloud.

This internet-based storage of microbiome data facilitates analysis by reducing the need for time-consuming data downloads. The next phase of the Microbiome Cloud Project will add more datasets, analysis tools, and supporting documentation.
