Korean-language Google+ Hangout on the Health Insurance Marketplace

e-Alert From the Office of Minority Health Resource Center August 23, 2013   Mark your calendar The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) invites you to join a Google Hangout in Korean on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 3 pm ET. Nearly 1 in 5 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders do not have health insurance and among Korean Americans, 1 in 4 do not have health coverage. Access to quality, affordable coverage is critically important to AAPI individuals and families, and now, it will be more accessible than ever through the Affordable Care Act and the new Health Insurance Marketplace, which will open on October 1st. Many AAPIs – including many who have limited proficiency in English – may still have questions about the Marketplace and how to access health insurance. To help provide information to these communities, the White House Initiative on AAPIs will host a series of online Google+ Hangouts in AAPI languages. The first of these Hangouts will be in Korean. During the Hangout, there will be a live question and answer period with representatives from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. They will respond to questions and provide information on how to obtain health care coverage through the new Marketplace. The White House will also be hosting Hangouts in Vietnamese and Chinese on later dates.
