PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This program will review the importance of organized transfer processes in ensuring access to pediatric specialty care. The newly released inter facility transfer tool kit, will be highlighted and speakers will share several case illustrations of tool kit use to facilitate the preparedness of hospitals in safe and expeditious transfer of the critically ill and/or injured child.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This webcast is appropriate for state EMSC managers, State Health Department and Hospital Regulators, hospital administrators including emergency department directors and medical directors, EMS providers, emergency room physicians and nurses, trauma program coordinators and managers, pediatricians, pediatric critical care directors, family members, and others interested in improving emergency medical services for children.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

As a result of having attended this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify availability of appropriate processes and partners to assist in the planning of safe and timely transfer of children to additional resources of care.
  • Propose a plan for establishing interfacility transfer agreements between own facility and a partnering institution.
  • Evaluate availability of interfacility transfer guidelines in own facility inclusive of components specific to children and families and if needed develop transfer guidelines.

A certificate of continuing education will be available for attendance at the live presentation only. To obtain a CEU certificate you must attend the activity in its entirety, submit a completed evaluation form and document your attendance electronically on the sign-in record. The electronic evaluation must be completed within 1week of the education activity after which the CE certificate will be emailed. You should receive your certificate within 1 hour of completing the evaluation form.

ACCREDITATION:

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Clinical Support Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The IHS Clinical Support Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 11/2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This activity is designated 1.50 contact hours for nurses. 

Accreditation applies solely to this educational activity and does not imply approval or endorsement of any commercial product, services or processes by the CSC, IHS, the federal government, or the accrediting bodies.  Space after this statement and the next one addressing disclosers is needed as well.
